The Friends of Soldiers Memorial Library have organized themselves to give us a way to serve the Library and the Community as a team.
The Goals of the Friends of Soldiers Memorial Library (F.O.S.M.L.) are:
To support and promote the charitable, educational, and literary purposes of Soldiers Memorial Library of Hiram, Maine, within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, or the corresponding provision of any future United States I.R.S. Code.
To promote the common good and welfare of the general public through the support and assistance of the Library.
To maintain an association of persons interested in books, libraries, and information services and learning; to focus public attention on library services, facilities, and needs; and to stimulate gifts of desirable books, collections, endowments and grants to the Library.
To actively promote and support the financial and economic well-being of the Library by fund-raising and the conduct of fund-raising projects, by providing publicity and programs in support of Library purposes, and by supporting volunteer work and providing hired assistance when appropriate.
To support the maintenance of the Library, its building and its property. To lessen the burdens of Town government by raising funds in support of Library programs and projects.
Anyone who walks through the door of Soldiers Memorial Library is a friend.
Soldiers Memorial Library in Hiram was presented with a $500 grant for the completion of their circulation/
reception area and printer station.
